Overview
Installation is basically an act of making any system or program ready for execution.
It can be categorized into two broad categories:
Physical:
Physical installation is a process of installing physical equipment such It components, manufacturing unit components etc. Physical machine installation requires personals of specific expertise.
Virtual:
Virtual installation refers to installation of virtual systems, such as software. Installation of computer program (including device drivers and plug-in), is the act of making the program ready for execution. These types of installations can only be done only by person having the knowledge of that software.
Physical installation:
For physical installation one needs to take care of preparing proper installation environment, equipments and skilled man power to install them. For IT hardware installation the following criteria needs to be taken care of.
A clearly visible and accessible emergency power off switch is required.
Appropriate connectivity for preparing installation environment.
Operating environment suitable for the system
Required hardware and software requirements should be met.
Ensuring the specific connection for the system.
IP address allocation and usage.
Performance of the channel extenders keeping in mind that the performance of the link to the remote location decreases as the distance to the remote location increases.
Virtual installation:
A soft or digital copy of the software (program) is required to install it. There are various processes of installing software as it varies according to the program and type of the system where it’s being executed.
It requires the software being copied/generated from the installation files to new files on the local system for easier access by the operating system followed by creating necessary directories, registering environment variables and providing separate program for un-installation .The code is generally copied/generated in multiple locations after installation , un-installation may involve more than just erasing the program folder. Registry files and other system code may needs to be updated or deleted for a complete un-installation.
Integration:
Definition of Integration:
Integration is an act of bringing the smaller components together into a single system that functions as one. Integration refers to the whole process that aims to stitch together different, to make it a whole system that functions properly.
In information technology it is referred to as the process of linking different computing systems, software applications, physically, functionally a coordinated whole system.
Different types of integration:
Continuous Integration:
Continuous Integration is a practice where developers integrate codes into a shared repository quite a number of times. These integrations being verified by automated tests. In this types of integration errors are being detected quickly.
Data Integration:
Data integration is basically consolidating data from different sources into a single dataset to provide the users continuous access and delivery of data. Integration starts with ingestion process, and includes process of cleansing, ETL mapping, and transformation. In this process the client sends request to the master server for data. The master server then extracts the required data from different sources and consolidated into a single, cohesive data set and sending it to the client.
Data integration required with high volume data.
Interoperability Merger Integration.
